JoeMadArt.com update #52
Ruined King to be released in early 2021!

Hey guys!

At last!! After more than 9 months without the smallest sketch from Joe Madureira, Riot Forge and Airship Syndicate revealed some new information about their upcoming game Ruined King: A League of Legends Story including many brand new arts by Joe!

Let's start with the official Ruined King: A League of Legends Story Announcement Trailer:

That trailer reveals a key art of the game featuring the Ruined King in addition to 6 characters from League of Legends who will be playable in the game. Miss Fortune, Illaoi, Braum, Pyke and Yasuo portraits were done by Joe Mad (lines) and colors by (Grace Liu) while the excellent Ahri was done by Hicham Habchi.

Have a look below to some bigger images of those League of Legends heroes:
Also, I invite you to read that long interview of Joe Madureira and Leanne Loomb (Head of Riot Forge) at Millenium.gg
Look, I've worked with Marvel for a number of years, with a lot of other people's IPs. There it was also crucial to find that balance between respecting the original work and at the same time finding those little twists to make it interesting. And that's how we approached this project.

-Joe

Apart all those new visuals, what else did we learn from the different comments over the internet?

- The Game will be more than ever a "Narrative driven turn-based RPG"
- The Game will be available on Nintendo Switch, PS4 and soon after on PS5 with a free upgrade from PS4 to PS5, Xbox One and soon after on the Xbox Series X|S (With the same upgrade option from the Xbox One version of the game), Steam and the Epic Games Store.
- A release date has officially been announced... well, "Early 2021" so let's assume in 2021-Q1.
- The game is single-player only
- The adventure will take place in Bilgewater and The Shadow Isles where you will have to compose a team of 3 Heroes among the 6 announced
- Have a look to the Riot Forge official Announcement about Ruined King: A League of Legends Story

Just to complete that update here are a few more pieces of arts.

For the record, while doing some researches I found that beautiful textless version of that iconic House of M #1 cover inked by Tim Townsend and colored by Richard Isanove.
Surprisingly I also discovered that Richard colored 2 other arts by Joe! He colored that Mortal Kombat Sorpion as well as that Sub zero. In fact that Sub zero as a cover was colored by Liquid! (So Christian Lichtner or Aron Lusen) but an alternative version was also available in the PSM magazine as a poster and that version was colored by Richard Isanove.
I was super happy to find 2 clean versions of those arts. Have a look below:
And to finish, let me share with you a line version of Prince Malchezaar (Joe removed that version from his Artstation account, thank you David Bolton for the info!) and also, 2 pieces of art done back in 2005 for Darksiders and shared this year on twitter by John Pearl:
That's all for that update but don't forget to wish a Happy Birthday to Joe since today is his birthday!

So happy birthday Joe! Stay safe and draw more please! ;)
Happy Birthday Joe Madureira

I wish you all a happy Christmas holiday season! Be safe!

JoeMadArt.com update #51
Savage wolverine #8 part 1!

Hi Joe Mad fans!

Last month (plus a few days) on August 31 during the Summer Game Fest some super tiny information about Ruined King: A League of Legends Story were shared. Ruined King will be the first game of Riot Forge in partnership with Airship Syndicate with the goal of telling more about the lore of Runeterra and its heroes. The game will be available on many platforms (not only PC) even if none were mentioned. Nothing was shown from the game but just a concept of the Shadow Isles:
Check out the full interview with Joe Madureira, Rowan Parker and Geoff Keighley:

You can also discuss that 1st update about Ruined King: A League of Legends Story on the forum of JoeMadArt.com.

On my side I continue to share with you some pieces of arts that Joe did over the past years...
And today's update is focused on Savage wolverine #8 part 1 with the first 11 10 pencil pages: Note: page 6 is indeed missing, if one of you has a good scan of the pencil version, please contact me!

Also, I found recently on www.kwanchang.com a never before seen pencil page of Sly Cooper: Note: The "Texture" version was added to the site a long time ago but that pencil version is new!

Stay tuned for more!

And if you want to discuss with some Joe Mad fans I encourage you to visit the official JoeMAdArt.com forum.
As well as the Joemadart.com community on facebook

See you there!

JoeMadArt.com update #50
Inhuman 1 part 2!

Hi guys!

I hope that you are all fighting seriously that #&%$ing COVID-19! The situation is still not good worldwide so we must all take all the precautions in order to be able to beat it.

OK, let's go back to what that website is all about:
The last update of JoeMadArt.com was 4 months ago, sorry for that lack of updates... Anyway, the website is still living on and you can discuss any "Joe Mad!" topic on the official JoeMadArt.com forum.
You can also join the very active community on facebook.

No big news since that last update in April except the release of The art of Darksiders Genesis" by UDON Entertainment, Airship Syndicate and THQ Nordic. You can have a sneak peek at what's inside by watching that official video by Matt Moylan (Director of Publishing at UDON Entertainment):

On their side Joe Madureira and Airship Syndicate were still very quiet about their next games and in particular about the last one announced in December 2019: the Ruined King: A League of Legends Story. Who knows, maybe something new will be revealed during the Gamescom 2020 this week?

In the meantime, here is a bunch of traditional arts by Joe and Marte Gracia for the Inhuman #1 comic: Note: Regarding that "Design" variant cover, you can find a better version of the Medusa sketch on the website:
On top of that here is a magnificent textless and HD version of the Darksiders 1 cover:
... As well as the pencil version of that 2009 Play mag cover:
Final note, Joe Mad fan Sean Rischar aka SomaXD on Twitter informed me of a mistake on the website about the "Ultimate Extinction #1" cover. Thank you Sean, it's now fixed! ;)
Let's keep our fingers crossed that we get some fresh new Joe Mad stuff soon!

JoeMadArt.com update #49
Darksiders stuff again!

Hi guys!

I really do hope that you are safe during that COVID-19 crisis. Since most of you are confined then you may find the time for doing things that were on hold for a long time or maybe trying new things. It seems that's a bit the case for John Pearl (Design Director / Principal Artist at Gunfire Games) since he was able to find the time to dig into his personal files and found some old Joe Madureira artworks done for Darksiders and Darksiders 2!!
From any bad situation something good can still arise isn't it? ;)

So enjoy all those Darksiders and Darksiders 2 arts:
You may have noticed the storyboard that Joe did for Darksiders. The final trailer is so cool!
I suppose that it's the perfect time to watch again that Darksiders War trailer ;)

Also, I found by chance a better version of the Game Informer cover #219 featuring Darksiders 2! Note: That new version has a very nice size of 2461 x 1656px whereas the previous one was only 1920 x 1080px! Enjoy!

Another excellent addition to the site this month is the portrait of War from the BETA of Darksiders Genesis. If you carefully pay attention to the portrait in the final version, War's iconic sword the Chaoseater is not visible while it was in the BETA.
Many thanks to Billy Garretsen (Lead UX Designer at Airship Syndicate) for the share and... in HD (1658 x 2230px)!!
Apart that, as you may have noticed in the previous update, a forum dedicated to Joe MAdureira and the joeMadArt.com website is available! I invite you to register and participate! >> www.joemadart.com/forum <<

For this update I also have something else new!
I've added a "Search" feature (see the button in the top menu) powered by Google. It's super accurate! Try it out, you will see! Go to the forum and let me know what you think of it in particular versus the "tagger". I think that this new search feature is a lot more powerful than the "tagger" so I will probably remove the "tagger" in a future update... I will see.

Until next time Joe Mad! fans! Be strong and... stay safe, stay at home if you can!

JoeMadArt.com update #48
Join the JoeMadArt Forum!!

Hey guys!

I'm super happy to officially announce that the JoeMadArt forum is opened!

The URL is: joemadart.com/forum!

To be precice, the forum is in fact accessible since the 31th of March but I only mentioned it on twitter and facebook for those who follow me. Installing and customizing it took me a lot of time. I learnt a lot (that was also the goal ;)) but it took me the whole month of march to make it ready. As a consequence this update doesn't contain any new piece of art... I didn't find the time and the courage to work on that part...

Anyway I really hope that you will be many to join and share your passion about the art of Joe Madureira!

Since the last update I noticed a good increase of fans who joined in the Joemadart.com Facebook group, that's fantastic!
I also noticed that many discussions were related to some fan arts and how Joe inspired some of you.
All that convinced me that it was the right time to add a forum. The community around JoeMAdArt.com increased significantly and the topics discussed are so diverse that it's sometimes difficult to follow-up on a specific topic on facebook. The forum will be a better option for that in my opinion.

I did my best to customize the forum so that you feel "at home" there. I tried to give it a unique design in order to really differentiate it from any other forum. This forum will be an excellent way for me to get your remarks and suggestions:
You can find a "JoeMadArt Forum" and another "JoeMadArt Website" forum where you can tell me everything about either the forum or the website.

So don't hesitate! Let me know what you think of them and in particular of the new forum! :)
And if you find a bug you can also write in those forums!

For your information, for the design of the forum I only used pieces of arts that Joe did.

Here are the links to them for the reference:

Go register now and let's discuss all together!

I will add some new pieces of art in the next update! I Promise! ;)

JoeMadArt.com update #47
Old Battle Chasers Nightwar arts!

Hi JoeMAd fans!

Another small update this month as nothing particular has been revealed by Joe Madureira during that past month. As I said in the last update of December I would add sooner or later all the pieces of art that Joe shared on his Artstation page... well today is the day! ;)

Here are all the Battle Chasers Nightwar arts that were missing on JoeMadArt.com: Note: while the colored versions of those arts were already present on JoeMadArt.com, the uncolored versions were not ;)

2 environment concepts for Battle Chasers Nightwar were still new reveals:
Also I still receive from time to time some Joe Mad sketch scans from some backers, many thanks to you for that!
So here is the sketch that Gerry Morigerato sent to me! Thank you Gerry!
Just like Garry if you possess an original art by Joe, you can send me a HD scan at: ulkhror@joemadart.com. Thank you!

Let's all keep our fingers crossed and wish for some more fresh news from Joe in the coming weeks!

Also, I noticed that many new members joined the Joemadart.com: Joe Madureira Fan website group on Facebook!
The group is now composed of more than 1000 members! (1052 to be exact)
That's fantastic to see so many Joe Mad! fans and artists that are inspired by the work of Joe.
Continue to spread the world about Joe and of course about JoeMadArt.com! ;)

Until next time!

JoeMadArt.com update #46
Battle Chasers Nightwar Kickstarter Rewards!

After an intense month of December to close 2019 Joe Madureira was again very present during that first month of 2020!
Joe has now finished all the sketches and commissions promised during the Battle Chasers Nightwar Kickstarter campaign and he shared a few of them on internet for our pleasure! :)

You can find below all the sketches and commissions that Joe shared with his fans during this past months:
What else? Are You Not Entertained? ;)
Well a beautiful gold nugget was also shared by Gunfire Games recently.

This is an original traditional pencil page that Joe did for Darksiders 2 and the in-game cutscenes:
I searched and asked for those "cutscenes drawings" many times but this is the first time that I can watch one! Enjoy!

OK that update was short... but strong in new arts isn't it? ;)
Stay tune for more!

Note: If you are a happy owner of a JoeMad art, please send me a HD scan or photo at: ulkhror@joemadart.com!
Thank you!
